Moist, Soft, Buttery rolls soaked in sugar syrup and filled with cheese
Honeycomb Bread or Khailat Nahal is a popular Yemeni bread which actually means beehive because of its resemblance to a honeycomb and due to its honey flavored syrup glazing. This delicious pull apart sweetened bread can be made as breakfast, for Iftar or even as a dessert.
The cheese filling can also be replaced with nutella, melted chocolate ore peanut butter. The kids for sure will opt for nutella. I prefer cheese. The flavor of cheese filled in the rolls soaked in sugar syrup is yum.
My Elder son requested me to make these on the first day of Iftar this Ramadan. This can also be made ahead can be heated in oven at the time of having them. I actually had made this twice, first time as breakfast and second time for iftar. Both times these soft buttery rolls vanished within minutes. One thing I enjoy about trying new recipes is I enjoy watching my hubster and kids enjoy my food while eating them and the way it gets vanished. By the time the food is finished both my sons would have shown 3 to 4 thumbs up in between saying " Mamma I loved this, you should make them again". and Mr. Hubster is not behind in expressing his love for the food too by saying "wow mamma (sometimes he do call me mamma)super, mmmm, wow", hehe thats his way of enjoying the food. Its like a noisy eating all over. So by seeing them enjoying the food itself fills up my stomach. Having Honeycomb Bread was one such moment.
